Report: Putin says existing barriers in Internet suffice so far

MOSCOW, Apr 3 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that the existing restrictions in the Internet are sufficient so far, as business daily Kommersant reported on its Web site.

“We have some restrictions, which are well known. They’re about propaganda of suicide, infantile pornography, terrorism and drug distribution,” Putin said at the All-Russian National Front media forum in St. Petersburg.

“Everything functions all right. Moreover, some think that restrictions should be tougher,” the president said, adding that the government should not be guided by the principle that it “knows everything better than the others.”

“Everything is forbidden that the law bans, and it should be cautiously, in a civilized and technological way to be implemented in the Internet.”

All additional limitations should be discussed with public, Putin said.
